Director of Business Development

Are you a driven recruitment professional ready to take the next step? Do you have relationships in biotech and want a strong team around you capable of delivering the talent you've promised? We have a key role open for a business developer, who will join the momentum as we become the most respected and recognized biotech recruitment firm for executive and consulting placement across key geographies.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead the growth and development of Genepool’s consulting and contract placement business across the life sciences and biotech sectors.
  • Open and develop new client accounts with companies that need specialized consultants, contractors, interim leaders, and project-based talent.
  • Deepen relationships with existing clients by identifying consulting and contract needs across R&D, clinical, regulatory, technical operations, CMC, quality, commercial, and related functions.
  • Build and lead the consulting and contract placement group, including helping define the structure, process, standards, and growth plan for the business.
  • Remain hands-on in business development, client management, role qualification, candidate strategy, and closing activity.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to identify new market opportunities and expand Genepool’s presence in key biotech markets.
  • Coach, mentor, and eventually manage recruiters and account team members to deliver exceptional client service, strong candidate matches, and consistent revenue growth.
  • Help establish the operating rhythm for the group, including pipeline management, client development priorities, recruiting focus, delivery expectations, and performance accountability.

 

Who You Are

  • An experienced consulting and contract placement professional from a biotech, life sciences, or specialized recruitment agency environment.
  • You bring a strong track record of developing new client accounts, managing key relationships, and building contract or consulting revenue.
  • You have direct experience placing consultants, contractors, interim leaders, or specialized project-based talent within biotech, pharma, or life sciences companies.
  • Experience across R&D, preclinical, clinical, regulatory, CMC, technical operations, quality, and commercial operations functions is strongly desired.
  • You are both a builder and an operator, comfortable creating structure, establishing a group, developing business, and staying close to the daily work required to win.
  • You are a self-starter who thrives on ownership, entrepreneurial challenges, and the opportunity to shape a meaningful part of the company’s growth.
  • You are an excellent communicator with strong negotiation, relationship-building, client management, and leadership skills.
  • You are motivated by a role that combines hands-on execution, team leadership, strategic influence, and significant financial upside.
